The Connecticut Sound can be a great place to sail.  With almost no waves but strong gusts of wind, sailing in Connecticut can be an incredibly relaxing and enjoyable experience.  Known for it's quaint port towns, be sure to check out the following spots:

1.) Mystic:

Mystic is not the most well known port town in CT by accident.  Home to the nations largest Maritime museum, as well as the world-famous Mystic aquarium, sailing in Mystic can be a great activity for the whole family.  When docking, make sure you use the Mystic River Marina for quick access to the town and beautiful views.  From Mystic, take a quick sail to our second favorite spot in New London a quick sail away.

2.) New London:

Known as the worlds third busiest whaling port in the world for decades, New London has quietly transformed itself into a vacation hot-spot for those looking to for a quick and close destination.  One unique factor about New London is it's location on a river.  Great views on both sides, you will have the opportunity to see the unique architecture in the area, which was funded by decades of whaling profits.  If you are looking to get to land or check out some of the local cuisine, dock on the  Crocker's Boat Yard, which has been in operation since 1881.

3.) Norwalk:

Keeping in theme with the old industrial towns, our third favorite spot for sailing in Connecticut is the former industrial giant, Norwalk Connecticut.  Located a bit farther west than Mystic or New London.  Norwalk is a great opportunity to explore another part of Connecticut, all while staying close to home.

If you are feeling adventurous, check out our favorite sailing spots in Massachusetts as well as New Hampshire!
